Since EA Education moved our office location to Lexington in 2018, we have added a variety of tutoring programs, including reading comprehension, academic writing, writing competitions, various levels of math tutoring, various subject tutoring and AP classes, as well as various SSAT/SAT classes, especially an SAT advanced class aimed at providing short-term, advanced training to students who will soon be taking the test. Many of our students have seen significant improvement on the SAT test, with some even achieving a perfect score of 1600! We also provide public speaking and debate classes, TOEFL, school application counseling services, essays, interviews, internships, etc. We are also proud to have helped many students gain admission to top colleges and high schools.

EA Education focuses on helping students improve their soft skills such as critical thinking skills, analysis skills, communication and presentation skills, and writing skills. We believe these classes would benefit students in these fields.

EA Education can also conduct customized or self-organized small classes including school application counseling services.

I. SAT Critical Reading and Writing Syllabus

Furthermore, because the class is administered during the school year, it will work flexibly to accommodate students’ workloads, yet it will maximize efficiency by providing necessary practice and by avoiding busy work. At the conclusion of the course, students will be better prepared for academic work in college and beyond.

Course Requirements and Evaluation

1. Attendance and Participation

Classes meet every day for 2 weeks(or 3-4 weeks),and so it is imperative that students attend all classes in one module. Instruction will be lecture and discussion based, and so we encourage and rely on students’ active participation. Furthermore, classes will run in conjunction with homework assignments, so to not waste time, students should complete all homework assignments, review their mistakes, and come to class with questions.

II. SAT Reading Comprehension Class

The most difficult part of the SAT to improve in a short period of time is the SAT reading section, especially for students who come from China. They may have difficulty keeping up with the speed of the SAT exam and achieving a high level of accuracy. It takes a relatively long period of time to master this section, for example by strengthening reading comprehension skills, especially by reading novels of a certain level of difficulty in detail, improving accuracy and developing critical thinking and analytical skills.

Students can start by attempting a set of SAT reading questions on their own, and the teacher can guide them through solving the questions, analyzing the classification of the article, teaching them how to quickly grasp the main theme and important information in a short period of time, how to quickly eliminate incorrect answer choices, and summarize the various question types. Through 1.5 hours of analysis, students will receive the most systematic and detailed analysis, identify weak areas and effective methods for improvement.

III. SAT Math

This course includes studying the types of questions and test areas covered in the SAT math exam, including topics such as linear algebra, advanced algebra, data analysis, function operations, and geometry. The course will help students review the math knowledge they learned in middle and high school, analyze the relationship between exam questions and knowledge points, understand the characteristics of commonly asked question types, and develop problem-solving strategies, answering skills, and proficiency in tricky knowledge points and question types. Additionally, the course will include extensive practice to help students improve their problem-solving abilities and speed.

Students can choose to attend small group classes or one-on-one tutoring sessions. The aim of the course is to assist students in mastering the content and skills necessary to excel on the SAT math exam.
